Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Agora is built on the belief that civic participation deserves infrastructure you can trust — and trust starts with how we treat your data. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We've kept it short, because we collect very little.

The short version

  • We don't use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies. There's no cookie banner because there's nothing to consent to.
  • We collect only what you give us — when you join the waitlist or send us a message.
  • We don't track whether you open our emails or click their links.
  • We never sell or rent your data, and we don't share it for advertising.
  • Your data is stored in the European Union.

Who this covers

This policy applies to the Agora website at tryagora.org, including the waitlist and the contact form. Agora is an early-stage project; if our legal structure or practices change, we'll update this page.

What we collect, and why

If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address (required) and, optionally, your name, your location, and the role you identify with (citizen, official or staffer, civic-tech / NGO, journalist, or other). We also note which part of the site you signed up from. We use this to keep you updated about Agora and to understand who's interested.

If you use the contact form, we collect your name, your email, the reason you're reaching out, your message, and — optionally — your role, organization, and a website or profile link. We use this only to read and respond to your message.

We do not collect phone numbers, demographic information, or payment details, and we don't ask you to create an account.

Analytics — without cookies or tracking

We want to understand what's working on the site without surveilling anyone. So:

  • We use no cookies for analytics and no third-party trackers — no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording, no fingerprinting.
  • To see which pieces are read and shared, we use a privacy-preserving, first-party measure: we derive a temporary identifier from your IP address and browser that rotates every day and is never stored in a form that identifies you — we never keep your raw IP address. It can't follow you across days, or across other sites.
  • Our hosting platform provides aggregate statistics such as overall visits and page views; and, as with every website, our hosting and delivery providers process technical information like IP addresses in order to serve pages and keep the site secure.

Cookies and storage

We don't use any tracking or advertising cookies. The only storage we use is strictly necessary and relates to our staff admin area — a login session and a small setting that remembers admin-interface preferences. None of it is used to track visitors. That's why you won't see a cookie-consent banner.

Email

If you join the waitlist, you'll receive a short welcome series and occasional updates, all under a single consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, and we'll stop.

We deliberately do not track email opens or link clicks. We record only delivery outcomes — whether a message was delivered, bounced, or marked as spam — so we can keep our list healthy and follow anti-spam rules.

Who processes your data

We keep our list of providers short and purposeful:

  • Supabase — our database and backend, where the information above is stored. Hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).
  • Resend — our email provider, which receives the recipient address and the message content needed to deliver our emails.
  • Lovable — hosts the website.
  • Cloudflare — delivers the site to your browser; like any web host, it handles IP addresses in transit.

We don't sell or rent your personal data, and we don't share it with advertisers.

Where your data lives

Your core data is stored in the European Union. Our email provider, Resend, operates from the United States, so when we send you email the information needed to deliver it is processed there.

How long we keep your data

  • Waitlist: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
  • Contact messages: for as long as needed to handle your inquiry, and a reasonable period afterward, then deleted.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and you can unsubscribe from emails at any time. Depending on where you live — for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California's privacy laws — you may have additional rights, including to object to or restrict certain processing. We don't make automated decisions about you, and we don't build advertising profiles.

To exercise any of these, use our contact form and tell us what you'd like.

Children

Agora isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page as Agora develops, and we'll change the "last updated" date above when we do.
